Expired asset versions

This article describes when assets expire, the purpose of expiry dates, and what available actions it leaves to the owners/users when it expires.

As part of every asset's General info, an asset has an Expiry date field. An expiry date is a key aspect for an asset to help ensure that it's used only for a specific time window before it needs to be reviewed again. Especially in regulated industries, it's vital that the circulation of assets is tightly controlled.

On the date set in the Expiry date, the asset version's status will automatically change to 'Expired':

Expired assets can still be downloaded (not watermarked), and tasks and comments are still fully functional. Also, expired assets still offer options to the user to move forward and build on the expired version. By following the Action menu (...), the user can choose to either:

Each of which will leave the Expired asset version as it is, but generates a separate draft version, based on the expired version.
