Home: Daily Digest (to-do list)

This article describes the Daily Digest functionality on Cohero's Home page, serving as the user's personal to-do list.

Written by Bram Timmers

Cohero's Home page carries a functionality that sums up all the relevant to-dos that a user needs to be mindful of. This Daily Digest has replaced the former lists that populated the Home page, which have been made redundant following the introduction of the Tasks and Approvals pages.

Let's take a closer look at the Daily digest feature, by zooming in on the 3 parts it consists of:

1. Information per list

All lists in the Daily Digest feature carry a combination of both tasks and approval requests at the moment. Over time, these lists will be expanded with more items that require your attention. Every item in these lists contains a specific set of information. It's been purposely designed to keep things compact and concise. The elaborated views on Tasks or Approvals can be found on their respective pages.

Let's review all content that is reflected in these lists:

  1. Type of to-do: the icon represents what it is, that calls for your attention. At this point, the lists will show either circled checkmarks (representing a task) and a double checkmark (representing an approval request). The icons are not clickable, and are purely meant to communicate the type of to-do to the user.

  2. Name of the to-do: the name of the task, or the approval step to which you are invited is reflected here. This element is clickable, and will take you directly to the selected task or approval request to get started.

  3. Associated asset: for contextual reasons, we reference the involved asset with the asset thumbnail and its name.

  4. Description / note: on hover, this is where you can find the task's description, or the note left for the approver. This too offers context for the reader.

  5. Status: this element communicates the status of the to-do. For tasks, this is an interactive element, and enables users to close the task straight away. For approval requests, it is a static reflection of the status: to approve the asset, one needs to follow the approval link.

  6. Assignee: This is the assignee of the to-do. Since this feature is personalized to you, you'll either see your personal avatar, or a team you're a member of.

  7. Due date: this date shows when the to-do is due.

  8. Priority flag: if a to-do is urgent, this is where the priority flag is featured.

2. Needs your attention

The first list grabbing your attention is labeled 'Needs your attention'. This list contains all to-dos that are either overdue, or due in the next 24 hrs.

To go to a task - simply click the task name, and it will take you to that asset page, with the clicked task open.

To close a task - click the status chip ('Open') and press it. It will close the task, which moves it immediately to the 'Completed today' list (more on that in a next paragraph).

To start an approval - click on the approval step, and it will take you to the asset to which it concerns. The approver's notes are waiting for you there, so that you can begin your approval work straight away.

3. Upcoming

The second list (sitting underneath the 'Needs your attention' list) carries all to-dos that are due beyond the first 24 hours. They are sorted by their due date (soonest due date first).

4. Completed today

The third list (sitting on the right-hand side of the Home page) carries all to-dos that you have completed in the last 24 hours. They are sorted by their due date (soonest due date first).

Once a task is closed, you can choose to re-open it. To do so, just click the status, so it reverts back to 'Open'. This will automatically remove it from the 'Completed today' list, and bring it back to the appropriate list on the left (depending on its due date).
