This page gives a broad overview of all the available functions on the asset page, when it carries a Draft asset. References to detailed articles are made where applicable.
The asset canvas: a visual representation of the uploaded asset displayed on a canvas, offering the user a direct interface to study the asset.
Instrument panel: the primary controls to move across the canvas, and to leave annotations and mark-up behind on the asset. The instrument panel offers 3 options:
Hand: lets the user pan / drag canvas
Text balloon: lets the user leave comments / change requests on specific points or selected (visual) areas on the asset
Text selection: lets the user select text, to leave a comment / change request behind on that.
Task menu: This icon opens the task menu. Also read: "Working with Tasks"
Asset name: This is the name given to the asset
Action menu: Opens a list of key actions for this asset, such as: Renaming, Cancelling (article link), Releasing (article link) and Copy link.
Due date: Expresses the date, by when all activity (including the close of the approval workflow) should be done. This opens a date picker to select a new due date.
Asset manager: the person operationally responsible to manage the process of this asset's creation, review, approval and release. This opens a menu to assign a new Asset manager. Also read: "(Role of the) Asset Manager"
Asset status: this is the version menu. Unopened, it shows the version you are viewing, along with its status. Also see:
Share menu: this opens the Share menu, where detailed permissions can be granted (by those who have 'Can manage' permissions to this asset) or managed. The Share menu also enables them to invite guest users to this asset.
Asset info: this opens the 'Asset info drawer' where all asset info fields are displayed and where these fields can be edited. Also read: "Editing Asset Info"
Attachments: this opens the 'Attachments drawer' where all supporting attachments and bookmarks are displayed in a categorized manner - and where new attachments can be added. Also read: "Using Attachments"
Comments: this opens the 'Comments drawer' where all comment threads are displayed - and where new general comments/change requests can be added. Also read: "Commenting, Mentioning and Resolving"
Approvals: this opens the 'Approvals menu', reflecting the approval steps, and their statuses. Also read: "What is an Approval (work)flow, and where to use it?"
Activity Log: this opens the 'Activity Log': a fine-grained log of all events that took place in the context of this asset
Canvas orientation: this toggle lets the user change the orientation of multi-page assets on the canvas. One can choose between a horizontal orientation (default) and a vertical orientation.
Center: this toggle lets the user 'center' the asset, bringing the page in view to the middle of the canvas.
Zoom: these controls allow you to zoom in and out. Note, that you can also zoom using your regular mouse controls
Page counter: these controls show the page you're on. You can flip to next/previous pages, or enter the exact page you want to go to.
Download: this enables the user to download either a watermarked web-based PDF rendition of the asset, or the uploaded source file in its original state. Also read: "Downloading (Draft) Assets"
Iteration menu: Unopened, this mentions the iteration that is currently showing on the canvas. Opened, it reveals the 'Iteration menu' where you can see earlier/later iterations (and some basic metadata like upload date, and uploader), and where you're able to upload new iterations.
