Customizing and personalizing spaces

This article describes how users can personalize the way they see spaces in their navigation, and it speaks to how users can customize spaces.

Cohero recognizes that different users will prefer working in different spaces. One person's preference is not the same as somebody else's. That's why Cohero gives a number of ways how to personlize the list of spaces to users. This article covers a number of helpful user capabilities, related to how users see spaces, both personally and collectively. It covers the following aspects;

1. Pinning and unpinning spaces

1. Pinning and unpinning spaces

Each space has an associated action menu (...) that offers a number of options. To pin a space to the top, select 'Pin to top'. It will immediately reflect that space at the top of the list, enriched with a little 'pin' icon. You can add as many spaces to the top as you like. To unpin a space, and restore it to its original position in the row, simply click the pin icon, or open the action menu (...) and select 'Unpin'.

Important: Pinning/unpinning spaces is a personalized choice. It does not change the way in which spaces are displayed for other users.

2. Hiding and unhiding spaces

To accommodate for situations where users are never (or rarely) interested in some spaces, Cohero gives users a way to hide those spaces. This will help to clean up the list of spaces, leaving them only with the relevant spaces for them - ensuring easy access.

To hide a space, open that space's action menu (...) and select 'Hide space for me'. This will introduce a subsection at the bottom end of the list of spaces, called 'Hidden spaces', which is collapsed by default (to keep a clean overview). Any space you decide to hide, will end up in this subsection, where it's easy to retrieve it and restore it ('Show again') to the list again.

Important: Hiding/unhiding spaces is a personalized choice. It does not change the way in which spaces are displayed for other users.

3. Rearranging spaces

Different users may prefer to see their spaces in a different order, depending on which spaces they frequently use. Next to pinning a space to the top, users can also change the order manually, by dragging spaces to new positions. Simply click and hold a space, and move it to the preferred location in the list. Cohero will remember this preference of that user for future visits.

Important: Rearranging spaces is a personalized choice. It does not change the order in which spaces are displayed for other users.

4. Changing space avatars

Various situations could warrant the space to be more visually recognizable, than its regular gray one-letter avatar (which is the default avatar a space gets when it's created). If the space is used to work on a sub-brand for example, a logo may be a great alternative avatar. Someimtes a mere colour change is sufficient. Either way, Cohero facilitates the avatar to be customized.

To change the avatar, click the space's action menu (...) and choose 'Edit space avatar'. A dialog appears that shows the space's current avatar, and offers a way to either (1.) change the avatar's color into a panel of different options, or (2.) upload an image to be reflected in the avatar's (rounded) square area. After you've made your changes, you'll note that the space takes the new avatar immediately - and so does the metadata of assets and projects that are associated to the space.
